Our Story.

Zen Garden was born from a personal project and the dream of Etienne Jozef de Tandt, managing partner and Belgian citizen, whose connection with Cabo Verde began several years ago.

Since 2016, Etienne has developed a deep passion for Cabo Verde—its nature, culture, tranquillity and, above all, the warm hospitality of the Cape Verdean people. This special connection inspired him to invest in and develop projects on the island of Santo Antão.

In 2020, he brought one of his first major tourism projects to life with the creation of Hotel Tienne Del Mar, located in the municipality of Paul, Santo Antão. This experience gave him an even deeper understanding of tourism on the island and strengthened his desire to continue investing in high-quality tourism that respects nature and supports the local community.

From this passion and experience, Zen Garden was born: a personal project designed to create a unique place where nature, tranquillity, comfort, gastronomy, culture and well-being come together.

More than just a place to stay, Zen Garden aims to offer its guests an authentic experience in Santo Antão, in a welcoming environment surrounded by the natural beauty of the Paul Valley.

The project also represents the continuation of a story that began with a love for Cabo Verde and a desire to contribute to the development of local tourism, while celebrating Santo Antão and everything that makes the island so special.
